White Man Sought in Killing of 9 People in Black Church

An intense manhunt was underway Thursday for a young white man who joined a prayer meeting and then shot dead nine people inside a historic black church in downtown Charleston.
Charleston Police identified the shooter as 21 year old Dylann Roof of Lexington, South Carolina.
Police Chief Greg Mullen said it was unthinkable that someone who open fire inside a church.
Mullen said, the gunman stayed for nearly an hour at the prayer meeting Wednesday night before shooting the victims — six females and three males including the pastor, state senator clementa pinckney.
41 year old Pinckney was a married father of two who became the youngest member of the state house when he was elected at age 23. One resident urged people to stick together as the search continues.
