Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Crimean people voted “almost unanimously for reunification with Russia" while speaking in Moscow, Saturday. The President said Crimea's status reflects the position of its residents and Moscow only helped them “to express their opinion on how they want to live their lives.” During the discussion with journalists from Italian newspaper Corriera Della Sera, the Russian leader recalled events surrounding Kosovo’s "independence" from Serbia, which was decided by parliament opposed to a "referendum." Speaking on the situation in Donetsk and Lugansk, Putin urged Kiev to use peaceful means in order to end the conflict in the country's east.
