Thousands of protesters opposed to LGBT rights and sexual education in schools gathered in Stuttgart on Sunday, resulting in a smaller group of counter-protesters trying to descend on the group. Police erected barricades and were forced to restrain the counter-protesters. However, no major incidents or clashes were reported. The protest was organised in part by the conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, with guest speakers including author and pro-life activist Gabriele Kuby as well as the Christian Social Union's David Bendel. The protest took place in close proximity to the city's State Theatre, where counter-protesters erected a flag in the rainbow colours of the LGBT movement with the words "Diversity" etched across the front.
