Russian cosmonaut Anatoli Ivanishin voted in the Russian parliamentary elections from the International Space Station (ISS) via video conference to the Russian Mission Control centre in Moscow, Sunday.
The vote was transmitted through a secure channel to Moscow where fellow cosmonaut, Oleg Kononenko, cast Ivanishin's ballot.
On Sunday, Russian voters will elect 450 deputies from 14 political parties to the Russian State Duma. Approximately 2,000 out of 4,500 candidates are running independently.
The polls will be closely observed by Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
