During Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s visit to Muscat, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah backed an agreement between Syrians to end the ongoing conflict in the country, speaking in Muscat on Wednesday.
Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah discussed Oman’s involvement in the Geneva talks saying: “When there are suitable conditions and when there is a relevant need, Oman will ensure regular contact between the support group of Syria and the Syrian government.”
Oman’s top diplomat was speaking after meeting with Lavrov in the country’s capital where, earlier in the day, Lavrov had also met with Deputy Prime Minister Oman Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said. The discussions were dominated by conflict regulation in Syria and the price of oil, and the fight against international terrorism.
