Italy: Police clash with leftists protesting Salvini's visit to Bologna

Heavy clashes broke out between police and left-wing activists as police tried to disrupt a demonstration protesting against the visit of far-right politician Matteo Salvini to Bologna, Thursday.
Activists carried inflatable boats in an attempt to protect themselves from the riot police batons. Despite their efforts, police managed to disperse the activists by charging against them. Police made several arrests.
Citizens of Bologna have opposed Salvini's visits before. November 2015 saw a day of city-wide protests at the politician's decision to hold a rally in the southern Italian city.
