SOT, Pedro Sanchez, Spanish acting Prime Minister (Spanish): "The round of consultation with the head of state, the King, and different parliamentary groupings has just finished, whose result has also just been made public by the Royal House as well as the Head of the Congress. The result of those talks is clear. There is no majority in congress that guarantees the formation of a government, which pushes us to a repeat election on 10 November."
SOT, Pedro Sanchez, Spanish acting Prime Minister (Spanish): "On this occasion, it has been impossible to complete the mandate given to us by the Spanish people on April 28. I tried [to reach an agreement] through all possible means, but they [the rival parties] have made it impossible for us."

Spain will have its fourth election in four years.
Acting Prime Minister Pedro made the announcement from Madrid on Tuesday, after failing to secure enough support in parliament to form a government. He blamed the opposition for the political deadlock.
"It has been impossible to complete the mandate given to us by the Spanish people on April 28. I tried [to reach an agreement] through all possible means, but they [the rival parties] have made it impossible for us," he said.
Sanchez has been leading efforts to find a political solution since April's election. The new poll will take place on November 10.
