Thousands of Iranian protesters gathered at Palestine Square in Tehran, Friday, for a demonstration in solidarity with the Palestinian "day of rage” that was called to protest against Israel following clashes in and around Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. After Friday prayers, Iranian demonstrators took to the streets and joined the protest - waving flags and holding banners. They also chanted slogans against the Israeli occupying forces in Palestine and their US allies, to condemn what they see as an “Israeli invasion of Al-Aqsa Mosque." Local sources reported that similar protests were held in several other major Iranian cities. These protests came after several days of clashes at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, considered to be the third holiest place of worship for many Muslims. Israeli forces raided several neighborhoods across East Jerusalem late Thursday as clashes continued for the fourth consecutive day.
