Dalai Lama to Visit Britain Ahead of China's Xi

Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will visit Britain next week and again in September but his office says he will not meet any officials. The visit comes just ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's trip to Britain in October. The Dalai Lama will speak at the Glastonbury Festival - one of Europe's largest music festivals - during his June 27th-to-30th trip. Beijing denounces the Dalai Lama as a dangerous separatist who wants an independent Tibet. He says he only wants genuine autonomy for his Himalayan homeland. In 2012, British Prime Minister David Cameron had to put his trip to China on hold after Beijing took offense because he had a meeting with the Dalai Lama.
