Dutch Safety Board (DSB) chairman Tjibbe Joustra announced the final report of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 investigation at Gilze-Rijen air force base in the Netherlands, Tuesday. Joustra stated that the "international investigation into the causes of the crash has demonstrated that flight MH17 crashed because of a 9N314M warhead detonated outside the aeroplane, above the left side of the cockpit." Joustra continued that "Not all of the representatives endorse the conclusion that a 9N314M warhead was involved," adding that "the Russian Federation states that it is not possible to determine the type of warhead and the type of missile that carried it with certainty." Joustra also stated that the airspace above conflict zones in east Ukraine should have been closed off by Ukrainian authorities stating that "the risks posed to civil aviation were not adequately identified." The Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam when it was downed in the skies over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. All 298 including 80 children, and 15 crew members were killed.
