Hurricane Blanca is About to Be Earth's Sixth Category 5 Hurricane of 2015

Weather forecasters recognized early on that Hurricane Blanca would be a storm to watch due to its potential for rapid intensification. Forecasts predicted it would develop from a tropical storm on Tuesday to a major hurricane by Wednesday. Those forecasts may have been a bit conservative. Blanca is now a Category 4 storm, with maximum sustained winds of 130 miles per hour. It is forecast to intensify further into a Category 5 monster. This additional intensification may occur by Wednesday evening, as there is nothing to stop Blanca in the short run.
