Armenia: Putin arrives in Yerevan ahead of CSTO session

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, Friday, where he is due to take part in a session of the Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO). Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who is chairing the event, personally greeted Putin at the airport.
The summit brings together leaders of six member states of the CSTO - Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The session is said to focus on discussing ways to combat international terrorism. The participants are expected to approve a list of banned organisations, among which are the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra).
The participants are also expected to announce the name of the new CSTO Secretary General and sign several documents.
