Utah Baseball Team Cancels "Caucasian Heritage Night" After Church Shooting

Minor league Utah baseball team the Orem Owlz canceled a promotional event called “Caucasian Heritage Night” in the face of mounting backlash.
The Owlz had scheduled the event for August 10, but issued a statement Friday apologizing because the team's intentions may have been misinterpreted in light of quote recent tragic events.
The statement was apparently referencing the racially-motivated killing of nine black people in a historic South Carolina, church on Wednesday.
“Caucasian Heritage Night” would have included clips from Seinfeld and Friends, as well as “wonder bread on burgers with mayonnaise.”
According to the Owlz’s statement, the goal of the event was “to have fun and make fun of everyday normalcies.”
