Residents of Tel Aviv cast their ballots, as new general elections are held for the second time in less than six months on Tuesday.
Former Israeli Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked were among prominent political figures who cast her vote early in the morning.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who failed to form a coalition government after the first election, is now trying to win a record fifth term and has as main competitor former military chief of staff Benny Gantz.
Netanyahu has pledged to annex the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea in case he wins the election. This move drew sharp criticism amongst the Arabic community since the area constitutes more than 30 percent of the West Bank and has approximately 65,000 Palestinians and 11,000 Israeli settlers as its inhabitants.
