Russia: Night Wolves depart for Victory Day rally despite Polish entry ban

Bikers from the Russian Night Wolves motorcycle club set off on their annual motocross from Moscow to Berlin, on Friday, which they are carrying out in honour of the 71st anniversary of Victory Day.
The rally is scheduled to pass through Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Austria and the Czech Republic before reaching Berlin on May 9.
Bikers will attempt to cross the border with Poland on May 1, despite being officially banned from entering the country by Polish authorities. On the way, the Night Wolves plan to visit memorials to Soviet soldiers in various countries.
Head of the Russian Night Wolves Motorcycle Club Alexander 'Surgeon' Zaldostanov will not be able to leave Russian territory due to sanctions against him.
