A Russian Air Force Su-24 bomber hit a command centre of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the Idlib Governorate, according to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Defence that accompanied the release of the footage on Thursday.
Russia’s Defence Ministry also announced, Thursday, that two influential terrorist field commanders had been killed in Aleppo by Russia’s aviation group operating in Syria.
Spokesperson Major-General Igor Konashenkov stated that “the terrorists sustained significant losses” as a result of the Russian airstrikes, while emphasising that such strikes are carried out only after a thorough analysis of intelligence in order to eliminate risks to civilian lives.
The general stated that Russian planes hit 1,888 terrorist targets over the course of the last seven days in a total of 510 sorties.
Konashenkov said that “large-scale desertion is registered in illegal armed groups located near Aleppo” as “militants are making efforts to 'blend' into the crowd” by moving to Turkish territory.
