Peruvian doctors on strike clashed with police outside the Ministry of Health in Lima on Wednesday.
The demonstrators complained loudly as riot police sought to broke up the process using shields, batons and tear gas.
The professional body representing doctors called for a 48-hour walkout nationwide after failing to reach agreement with the government over wage demands and low funding in the health sector. Doctors emergency care would be provided, while routine appointments would be affected.
