The French Riviera, famed for beautiful beaches and chic cafes, was hit with torrential rainfall and violent storms, which caused huge flooding after the Brague river flowed over its banks. According to reports by officials, at least 16 people died and an estimated 27,000 homes are without electricity. Scores of cars, including Ferraris and other expensive vehicles, were piled up on the steets of the the commune of Biot in southeastern France. The autos were thrown about by the weather as if they were toys and lay among debris from trees and destroyed houses.
