Drone footage captured the unfurling of a record-sized Russian flag in Moscow, Wednesday. Some 300 cadets set the new national record by displaying the 2,100 square metres (22,604 square foot) flag, to celebrate the upcoming Russia Day and in dedication of the recent 70th anniversary of Victory Day. As well as the cadets, members of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Council of the Federation and the State Duma were also in attendance. Ambassadors from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Cyprus also took part in the celebration. Russia Day, celebrated on June 12, has been observed every year since 1992 to mark Russia’s adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation. Many attend concerts and firework displays in cities across the country. In the capital renowned Russian writers, scientists and humanitarian workers traditionally receive awards and medal from the Russian president.
