Thousands of Crabs Turn Cali Beach Blood Red
15
17.06.2015
Thousands of red tuna crabs washed ashore on China Cove Beach in California, coloring the coastline a distinct red as they neared the end of their life cycles. The crustaceans move with ocean currents, so conditions caused by El Nino may have pushed the crabs away from their usual habitat. Scientists say that this sort of beaching is not so uncommon. In fact, the same species, which is usually found in warmer waters, washed up on beaches in San Diego a few weeks ago.
