16.11.2015
The German Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel, said that the terrorist attacks in Paris will not lead to Europeans living in fear, Monday, at a press briefing at the SPD Headquarters in Berlin. "We are of course deeply moved by the outrage of this pointless murders in Paris. It is clear that the terror of IS [Islamic State] is not only against the French people, but it is against freedom and the self-determination of life," he said. Gabriel also stressed the importance of defending Europe's "cosmopolitan" and "peaceful" way of living, saying: "After Paris we can't live in fear and change our way of living together and our cosmopolitanism. If it was to change everything after Paris, then the terrorists would be celebrating their first success. We don't want to change how we live together peacefully, with different cultures in our country and in Europe." At least 132 people were killed and more than 349 left injured, after a series of coordinated attacks were carried out at six different locations across Paris on Friday evening.
