SOT, Geir Pedersen, UN Special Envoy for Syria: "As you know I had good and productive meetings with foreign minister Muallem during my last visit to Damascus. Since then I believe I've made some progress on the total package of the work that we are doing on the constitutional committee. I am therefore looking very much forward to my meeting with foreign minister Muallem tomorrow, and I hope it will be possible for us to talk to you again after that, thank you so much."

UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen arrived in Damascus on Sunday ahead of a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem to discuss progress on the formation of a constitutional committee.
Speaking outside the Four Seasons Hotel, Pedersen said that since his last visit he thinks he has made "some progress on the total package of work we are doing on the constitutional committee."
Since the Norwegian diplomat's last visit to the country in July, there have reportedly been advances made on the creation of the committee, which is intended to draft a new constitution for the country, with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres commenting on Wednesday that all parties have now agreed on its composition.
