Far-right politician and leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) Geert Wilders said Europe’s people are saying "no to the 'Islamisation' process," during the launch of the newly formed anti-Islam Australian Liberty Alliance (ALA), in Perth on Wednesday. Wilders stated that parties with “likeminded” policies to his anti-immigration, anti-Islam PVV were on the rise across Europe, including parties “in Austria, in Sweden, in France even in Switzerland.” Wilders was a guest of honour at the ALA launch, which was held in a secret location in Perth, Tuesday night, following concerns for Wilders' safety. However, the event location was leaked with protesters crashing the press conference and shouting over ALA party candidates Bernard Gaynor, Kiralee Smith and Debbie Robinson. The ALA has registered with the Australian Electoral Commission and intends to put forward candidates in the federal election, due to take place next year. The ALA is inspired by Wilders' Dutch Party for Freedom, which runs on an anti-Islamic platform. Wilders' party is leading in 13 out of 16 of the last opinion polls, a sign of success the ALA wishes to emulate.
