23.09.2015
With almost 60,000 Wolfsburg citizens working at the Volkswagen factory and headquarters, the ongoing crisis in the world's biggest car manufacturer was topic number one in the streets of the German city, Wednesday. While one Volkswagen worker thought other car producers might also be involved in the car emissions scandal, another found that VW had caused its own "mess." Most agreed, however, that things must be "cleared out now." Felix Portzert, a Wolfsburg citizen said that "they have been fooling people" adding that probably "they will pay a bit of fine and that's all." Bernunzo, a Volkswagen worker acknowledged that the group "already lost some value." The VW emissions scandal involving around 11 million vehicles erupted following a series of failed car emission tests in the US. Volkswagen has reportedly set aside $7.27 billion (€6.53 billion) to cover potential costs, although some experts estimate that the whole incident could cost the car giant a total of around $18 billion (€16 billion).
