Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov for bilateral talks in Nagoya on Friday on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers meeting.
"If we have a good relations, any problems will be solved much easier. I’m ready to cooperate with you, with your team to move in that direction. We will talk about it today and in more detail in Moscow," Lavrov told Motegi
The Japanese diplomat on his part said that Tokyo wanted to “unlock the potential of Japanese-Russian relations. As a foreign minister I am ready to make every possible effort to develop cooperation with you."
The G20 foreign ministers meeting is one of the eight ministerial level gatherings organised by Japan alongside the annual summit which took place in Osaka last June.
