Syria: Kurds rally in Kobane against 'criminal' Turkish airstrikes on Kurdish fighters

Hundreds of protesters gathered in the border town of Kobane on the Turkish-Syrian frontier, Tuesday, to condemn the recent Turkish airstrikes on Kurdish forces, which left dozens dead.
Protesters held banners reading "Death to Erdogan’s fascism, long live Kurdistan's freedom" and waved Kurdish flags.
Turkey’s air force carried out airstrikes targeting Kurdish fighters in Syria and Iraq, killing at least 70 fighters, according to Turkish military.
Turkey's operation 'Euphrates Shield' was launched on 24 August 2017 in alliance with the US-led coalition with the stated aim of clearing IS fighters from the Syria-Turkey border. However, Turkish forces are also carrying out operations against Kurdish fighters.
Earlier in March, around 400 US Marines arrived in northern Syria to participate in an offensive aimed at retaking Raqqa from the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL), with the assistance of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
