Security issues will be solved through "close, transatlantic cooperation," said German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Hanover, Monday, as she outlined the results of the meeting with US President Barack Obama, Italian and British Premiers Renzi and Cameron respectively and French President Francois Hollande.
Speaking to the press as Obama left Germany, Merkel expressed concern about the "fragile" truce in Syria, as she appealed to not let the Geneva peace process collapse.
“The Syria question facilitated a series of consultations between the US and Russia and the same goes for Ukraine conflict. At the same time, the Normandy format will continue to do its work. In the first place, we will work on electoral legislation; we are putting much effort into launching the political process and the elections," Merkel concluded.
Her statements came after Merkel and Obama resided over the official opening ceremony of the Hannover Messe 2016 annual industrial trade show at Hanover Exhibition Grounds.
