French Guiana: Blastoff! Russian Soyuz rocket launches Galileo satellites into orbit

Arianespace successfully carried-out a dual launch of two 1,576-pound (715-kilogram) Galileo satellites atop of a Russian Soyuz rocket, on flight VS15, from the Soyuz Launch Complex near the French Guinean town of Sinnamary, Tuesday.
The mission, conducted by the European Space Agency (ESA) - under contract by the European Commission - will put Galileo satellites 15 and 16 into orbit. The Galileo system is designed to provide high-quality navigation, positioning and timing services for Europe.
Flight VS15 will be the second Soyuz launch of the year for Arianespace, following the launch of VS14 is April.
