Clashes broke out between far-left protesters and police in Turin on Sunday, after a counter-demonstration was staged to oppose supporters of the ruling Democratic Party (PD) who had gathered in the city.
Left-wing protesters lit flares and held banners denouncing the Democratic Party’s leader and Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi, before attempting to confront the PD supporters. Police responded by charging at the protesters in order to separate the two groups.
