SOT, Ophelie, Protester: "I knew I had to come and be here because I'm vegan for the animals, I'm vegan for the planet, and I'm really afraid of what's going on now and how fast things are changing for the climate, for people, for animals, so I feel like I need to do something because otherwise I'm just too afraid."

We want to march to say that those animals should be liberated. It's unnecessary that we're consuming animal products. So with it being unnecessary, it's immoral and we should not be doing it."

SOT, Leon, Protester: "In relation to blocking Trafalgar Square, the reason behind this is to highlight the impact animal agriculture is having on the planet. So the government have just declared a climate crisis, and this is to highlight what animal agriculture is, the effect it's having on this planet. In terms of the number of people that are here today it makes you feel absolutely amazing, knowing there's so many other vegans, so many other people that are passionate about liberating animals, who care for animals and want to do something about it."

Hundreds of protesters marched through central London on Saturday to raise awareness of animal rights. Footage shows demonstrators carrying banners and police officers guarding a restaurant serving meat.
"We want to march to say that those animals should be liberated. It's unnecessary that we're consuming animal products. So with it being unnecessary, it's immoral and we should not be doing it," said Leon, one of protesters.
Protesters want the government to reduce the amount of animals killed for meat consumption and highlight the wider effect that animal agriculture is having on the planet.
