Mexican artist Pedro Francisco Rodriguez is creating his next artistic masterpiece, a bronze sculpture of Pope Francis in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, Sunday, ahead of the Pope's visit to the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
According to local officials, a five-metre statue of the pontiff dressed in a traditional white cassock and holding a dove in his left hand will be completed by April and erected on one of the city's major avenues.
More than a ton of bronze will be used to make the whole sculpture, which is valued at $30,000 (€27,000) and will be paid for by the business community, according to Rodriguez.
Pope Francis' official five-day visit to Mexico kicks off on February 12 and ends on February 17.
