SOT, Steffen Seibert, Government spokesperson (German): "We welcome that the ceasefire was extended by 150 hours through yesterday's agreement [between Russia and Turkey]. From our point of view it is also important that in the written results of this meeting there is a clear positive reference to the constitutional committee in Syria which is due to convene in Geneva next week, which both presidents confirm. From our conviction this constitutional committee is the entry into the much-demanded political process which is of crucial importance for a peaceful future of Syria. "

SOT, Steffen Seibert, Government spokesperson (German): "What I can tell you is that the forming of an opinion regarding the proposal of the Defence Minister [Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer] within the government has not been concluded yet. The proposal will play a role in the international contacts of the government, in particular during the meeting of defence ministers at the NATO meeting. The Foreign Minister will intensify his engagement in view of the first session of the constitutional committee in Geneva. Germany contributes more to the political process for finding a peaceful solution through that."

SOT, Steffen Seibert, Government spokesperson (German): "He [EU Council President Tusk] has also notified us that he wants to consult the leaders of the 27 EU member states on this question [Brexit extension], which is underway. I don't want to anticipate its result but I can say for the government that an extension will not fail because of Germany. "

SOT, Maria Adebahr, Foreign Ministry spokesperson (German): "We are very concerned about the violent confrontations in some of Chile's cities, which resulted in these fatalities. And we offer our condolences to the relatives. This indicates once again that it is right to refrain from violence and that we urge all sides to contribute to the political dialogue with their positions. "
