Far-right 'Pro Chemnitz' activists marched through Chemnitz on Friday, protesting against the government's asylum policies.
Serge Menga, an activist and DJ of Congolese descent who came to Germany when he was 11, was one of the main speakers at the rally, and contrasted his family's experience in Germany with those of more recent migrants and also spoke of his experiences with racism at school saying "the prejudices were there in the classroom, what does he want here, where does he come from, what does he look like."
Another participant at the protest, Arthur Oesterle, stated that the aim of the protesters is for there to be "no more governing past the people, but governing with the people whatever opinions these people have."
Menga gained fame at the start of 2016 when a video that he posted on Facebook which criticised the behaviour of recent immigrants to Germany and in response to the New Year's Eve sexual assaults that took place in Cologne, went viral.
