Federal Appellate Court Rules Apple Violated Anti Trust Law

30.06.2015
A federal appellate court ruled that Apple violated antitrust laws when it entered the electronic book market in 2010.
The legal case argued that Apple and e-book publishers colluded to upset Amazon's control of the market.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan agreed with a lower court's decision that Apple orchestrated a conspiracy with published to raise e-book prices.
Judge Debra Ann Livingston called the initial decision by the lower court, "amply supported and well-reasoned."
The U.S. Justice Department and 33 states and territories originally sued Apple and five publishers.
The publishers all settled and signed consent decrees prohibiting them from restricting e-book retailers' ability to set prices.
