SOT, Matteo Salvini, league party leader (Italian): "In September 2019, since the government changed, migrant arrivals have tripled, more than 300 per cent. So either they [Italian government] are incapable or they are hypocrites. Just look at the numbers. It seems clear to me that [Italian Prime Minister] Conte has sold the Italian borders in the name of something else."

SOT, Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "Not having voted is a lack of dignity. They voted in Israel, they will vote in the next few days in Austria, in Poland, in Spain, in the UK. In every civilised country they go to vote if there is no serious majority."
Journalist (Italian): "Is this not a serious majority?"
Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "Ask them. They insult each other every day, they denounce each other."

SOT, Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "Nothing will come out regarding Russia. I keep thinking Putin and Trump are great statesmen, and I think that United States and Russia should go back to collaborating and having a positive dialogue. I think it is more intelligent to get Russia closer to Europe than to bring Turkey into Europe, I keep thinking this without them paying me to think this."
M/S Crowd applauding
SOT, Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "The only problem is that it took me three months to hide 3 billion euros in roubles, I don't know where to put them anymore. I hid them in my apartment in Liguria, I gave suitcases of them to my parents in the mountains, I have some in every Italian region. There is this investigation that has been ongoing for nine months and I say I have total and full trust in the judiciary, because they tell me I should say that."
M/S Fratelli d'Italia MP Daniela Santanche applauding
SOT, Speaker (Italian): "Trump is a friend of yours."
Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "No, he's not a friend, I saw him once. I respect him. He has done more for the US economy in three years than not all the Democrats who preceded him in the 10 previous years."
M/S Crowd applauding
SOT, Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "For sure the PD people have already divided the next three presidents of the republic between themselves. I would for the one in 2029 - if not the one in 2022 - to be directly elected by Italian citizens, with a direct election of the president."
M/S Audience applauding
SOT, Matteo Salvini, League party leader (Italian): "I care less than zero about what [Italia Viva party leader Matteo] Renzi does. it is a shame for politics with a capital 'P.' He is someone who does not know dignity."

League party leader Matteo Salvini said the current Italian government was lacking "a serious majority" while participating in the annual far-right' Atreju' meeting in Rome on Friday.
"In September 2019, since the government changed, migrant arrivals have tripled, more than 300 percent," Salvini told reporters. "It seems clear to me that [Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe] Conte has sold the Italian borders in the name of something else."
Salvini had words for US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, calling them "great statesmen" and saying that "United States and Russia should go back to collaborating and having a positive dialogue. I think it is more intelligent to get Russia closer to Europe than to bring Turkey into Europe."
Salvini also commented on former Democratic Party (PD) leader Matteo Renzi leaving the party to found a new grouping called Italia Viva, by saying "I care less than zero about what Renzi does. it is a shame for politics with a capital 'P.' He is someone who does not know dignity."
