China: US must withdraw sanctions or 'bear the face consequences'

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned the US against imposing economic sanctions on its military over the purchase of Russian jets and missiles, at a press conference in Beijing on Friday.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Geng Shuang, said Washington should withdraw the sanctions or "bear the consequences."
China had lodged a diplomatic complaint with the US, Shuang added, declining to elaborate.
The US decision was caused by China's recent purchase of Russian military equipment, including 10 Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and S-400 surface-to-air missiles. The move, according to Washington, was in breach of US sanctions against Russia.
