Kurdish supporters rallied at the Fraport Arena in Frankfurt on Sunday, in preparation for the Turkish elections on November 1. Police and emergency services accompanied the rally, while Leader of the Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtas is also expected to join proceedings. Demirtas tweeted a photo earlier on Sunday of his brother-in-law, who was killed during clashes with the Turkish police earlier in the week, being pulled by a rope tied to a police car. Demirtas has been addressing Kurds in Germany all week, attracting crowds of supporters. Cem Ozdemir, the co-chairman of the German political party Alliance '90/The Greens, was among the guests during a rally in Ludwigsburg on Saturday, joining Demirtas in his demands for the Turkish government.
