Gray Family View Charges Against Baltimore Officers As Step Toward Justice

Freddie Gray's family said they are satisfied with the criminal charges filed against police officers allegedly responsible for his death.
Gray's stepfather Richard Shipley, who spoke for the Gray family, said, "These charges are an important step in getting justice for Freddie."
Gray died on April 19 after succumbing to injuries sustained a week earlier from a so-called "rough ride" in the back of a police van that left him with a serious neck injury.
On Friday, Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced that six officers would be charged with a variety of offenses, including second-degree depraved heart murder.
According to the lawyer representing the family, William Murphy, they were not made aware of the criminal charges being filed against the officers ahead of time.
