SOT, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, German Defence Minister (German): "In our talks we saw a lot of agreement on the question of the importance of Jordan for political stability in this region and we were together of the opinion that there are agreements which could give [more] stability to the region, such as the two state solution, which we believe is a good basis for living together."

SOT, Ayman Safadi, Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs: "Obviously we addressed the common challenge of terrorism and again here Germany is playing a tremendous role within the global coalition and our joint fight against this common enemy. Daesh as his majesty keeps saying has been defeated but not destroyed. It has lost territorial control in Syria and Iraq but it remains a very dangerous security and ideological threat. The battle is not over and we need to continue to work together to defeat that evil.

German Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer met Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi for bilateral talks regarding the future relationship of their two countries, on Monday in the Jordanian capital Amman.
The two discussed a range of issues including the Middle East peace process, as well as the situation in Syria and the German military's ongoing anti-Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS) mission.
Kramp-Karrenbauer, who is also the leader of Germany's ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, reaffirmed Germany's stance that a "two state solution" would be a "good basis for living together" for Israelis and Palestinians.
"Obviously we addressed the common challenge of terrorism and again here Germany is playing a tremendous role within the global coalition and our joint fight against this common enemy," stated Safadi, referring to the fight against IS.
The parliamentary authorisation for Germany's anti-IS deployment, which is stationed at Jordan's Muwaffaq Salti military base, is set to expire at the end of October and while Kramp-Karrenbauer said that she wanted the operation to continue, the CDU's coalition partners, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), are believed to be opposed to doing so.
This was the German Defence Minister's, first international visit since being appointed to the role. Kramp-Karrenbauer also visited German armed forces stationed in Jordan and is set to travel onwards to Iraq to visit more army personnel.
