Some 20 firefighters battled a huge blaze after a fire broke out at the Rotem Amfert chemicals factory near Dimona on Wednesday. Flames could be seen engulfing the building and a huge plume of smoke rose from the Rotem Amfert factory where fertilizer and phosphates are produced. No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed. Located nearby is the Negev Nuclear Research Center, roughly 13 km (8 miles) south-east of Dimona. The facility is believed to be the site of Israel's nuclear weapons programme.
