Turkey: Turkish police attack pro-Kurdish activists in Diyarbakir

Turkish security forces fired tear gas and water cannon against a demonstrators in Diyarbakir's Sur district, Saturday, who came out to protest against the ongoing military operations and curfew in the city.
The protest was organised by several leftist and Kurdish parties, including the People's Democracy Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP), under the slogan, "a Voice for Sur." As the HDP representative Ertugrul Kurkcu was giving a speech, the police began to attack the protesters using water cannons and large amounts of teargas. Several people were injured and several arrests were made.
Turkish security forces have undertaken a large-scale military operation in south-eastern Turkey, which began on December 14 and has involved the imposition of curfews on Kurdish cities, as well as aerial bombing, and mass detentions in areas of unrest.
