Bill Bratton, Commissioner of New York Police Department gave a press conference on Tuesday after a police officer was shot in the head and killed during a confrontation with an armed man by the FDR Drive in East Harlem. The officer was identified by police as 33-year-old Randolph Holder, and pronounced dead at Harlem hospital. Another police officer was also shot in the attack and is in serious condition in hospital, while the suspect is now being held in police custody. Bratton lamented that Holder was the fourth officer to be killed in 11 months, before adding that, "The investigation will continue through the evening. [..] The area will remain a very active crime scene."
