Left wing activists held a protest in Athens on Wednesday in support of Turkish academics Nuriye Gulmen and Semih Ozakca, who started a hunger strike after being dismissed following the failed coup in July 2016.
Academic Nuriye Gulmen and teacher Semih Ozakca were arrested in May for going on hunger strike after losing their jobs under the Turkish emergency decree. The decree was adopted after the failed coup against the Turkish president Erdogan that took place in July 2016.
The two academics, who are perceived to be followers of Fethullah Guelen, are still held in Ankara.
