21.08.2016
Activists rallied in Berlin's Potsdamer Platz, Sunday, to protest the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
Activists held banners reading, "Stop TTIP and CETA" and called for a bigger demonstration on September 17 at Alexanderplatz.
One activist who attended the rally said: "We demand that they stop the negotiations of the TTIP and CETA. The activist added "what we see in CETA and the leaked documents from the TTIP, it will open the EU for GM crops."
Both agreements, TTIP and CETA, have been met with fierce criticism due to its alleged effect on reducing the regulatory barriers for trade for large businesses, affecting food safety law, environmental legislation, banking regulations and the sovereign powers of individual nations.
