Anti-tax avoidance activists have turned London's Trafalgar Square into a mock 'tax haven,' Thursday, filling a part of the square with fake sand.
The action was organised by several charitable including Oxfam International and ActionAid. The protest coincides with the opening day of an international anti-corruption summit in London, hosted by British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The head of the inequality campaigns at Oxfam, Nick Bryer said that "a lot of the world's biggest tax havens do have direct links to the UK and if the UK wants to they can force them to become far more transparent, to make it much harder for people to hide their money there."
The organisations are calling for the UK government to prioritise tackling tax dodging by agreeing plans to end tax privileges in certain British territories.
