Dozens of anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews and rabbis gathered in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York City, Thursday, to protest against the "zionist State of Israel" as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a speech inside the venue. Protesters waved Palestinian and Iran flags and held banners which condemned Israel, while chanting slogans against zionism. The protest coincided with the historic hoisting of the Palestinian flag over the UN building. The red, black, white and green flag was erected in a short ceremony that witnessed speeches from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. President Abbas announced earlier on Wednesday at the UN General Assembly that the Palestinian Authority would cease to recognise agreements signed with Israel, claiming it had been left without a choice in the face of non-compliance by Israel.
