Day turned into night, Monday, as the total solar eclipse reached the campus of the University of South Carolina, among the last destinations of this year's long-awaited eclipse.
The eclipse ended at 16.00 Eastern Time and the US was back again to full sunshine.
The total eclipse started in Oregon and travelled across the United States along the path from West to East for the first time in 99 years. The next total solar eclipse is expected in 2019 over the Southern Pacific and will be visible from Chile and Argentina.
