Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his counterpart from El Salvador Hugo Roger Martinez Bonilla in Moscow, Tuesday, to discuss bilateral relations between both countries. Lavrov expressed his gratitude to Martinez for the productive talks, stating that both countries have an understanding in developing mutually beneficial relations. Discussing business, the Russian foreign minister stressed the importance of expanding "trade and economic relations, above all, by connecting the businesses of the two countries". Lavrov also noted that a law signed on March 25, 2015, by both foreign ministers, regarding the abolition of the visa regime for short-term travel, would soon come into effect which should "help the development of business and tourism as well". The foreign minister of El Salvador made his first visit to Russia in 2010, marking the beginning of the bilateral relation between Moscow and San Salvador.
