Rescue workers continued to search for survivors of the deadly mudslide that has so far claimed the lives of at least 131 people in Santa Catarina Pinula, Sunday. Several bodies were found during Sunday's operation which involved more than 1,000 workers. The bodies were taken to a makeshift morgue in Santa Catarina Pinula, where relatives and friends of those still missing waited to identify their loved ones. Once identified, the bodies were taken to a local cemetery to be properly buried. Emergency services established a shelter in a gymnasium in Santa Catarina Pinula. Humanitarian aid is being collected on a national level to help those affected by the mudslide. The deadly mudslide occurred on Thursday night after a hillside collapsed near the El Cambray neighbourhood, covering an area of 1.7 hectares in mud and dirt up to 13,7 metres (45 ft) deep. In total 125 homes were buried in the mud and authorities estimate that up to 300 people may still be unaccounted for.
