Russia: State Duma applauds Trump's victory in US elections

The Russian State Duma welcomed the news of Republican candidate Donald Trump's victory in the US Presidential elections with a round of applause from Moscow, Wednesday. Deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov announced Donald Trump as the president-elect which was greeted enthusiastically by the chamber.
Deputy Nikonov of the United Russia Party told the Duma deputies that "three minutes ago Hillary Clinton admitted her defeat in US Presidential elections", news which was received with a round of applause. He continued "and a second ago Trump started his speech as the elected President of the United States of America and I congratulate you on this."
Donald Trump was announced as the winner with 278 electoral votes after so-called battleground states like Ohio and Florida turned in his favour. Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with other global leaders including British Prime Minister Theresa May, congratulated Trump on his victory.
